Garrison Girls

Servicemen's wives pose nude for charity calendar (From Dorset Echo)
THE intrepid wives of soldiers, sailors and airmen have again posed in the nude for an underwater-themed 2012 charity calendar.
Garrison Girls, set up by a Dorset woman, is trying to raise £5million for a retreat to help service men and women with post traumatic stress disorder.
Available online from The Forces Store (direct link to calendar) or from Garrison Girls.

Wait, it says "have again posed"? That's correct, this isn't the first time.

I wish I'd been organized enough to feature this calendar on Veterans' Day.

Pin Up for Heroes

Military wives and girlfriends strip off for charity calendar for injured servicemen | Mail Online
While their husbands and boyfriends are away fighting, a group of army WAGs have found their own inventive way to do their bit.
Fifteen women, mostly the wives and girlfriends of men in the armed forces, are posing as 1950s-style pin-up girls for a charity calendar to raise money for injured troops.
More than 300 women volunteered to be photographed for the calendar, most of which was shot at the Help For Heroes recovery centre for injured service personnel at Tedworth House in Wiltshire.
Here's their Facebook page, which includes a link for ordering. I wish I'd been organized enough to feature this calendar on Veterans' Day. This is at least the third Help for Heroes calendar.

Humane Hunnies

Calendar to benefit Humane Society | Daily Reflector
Set Salon owner, Susan Chesson, left, and Moxie Promotions Kelly Boutilier, right, talk about their recent success with a charitable, pin-up style calender called the Humane Hunnies, whose proceeds support the efforts of the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina.
This Daily Reflector article is behind a paywall (because that's working so well for every newspaper that has tried it, I guess), and the calendar doesn't have its own website. It does, however, have a Facebook page which says what it costs but not where to get one. They haven't even posted a picture of the cover. Ahhh, there's a FundRazr link in there, buried at the very bottom of the page--which is to say, in the first post on the wall and not since.

I don't mean to be critical, ladies, I'm sure you're doing good work, but it could be easier to get information about this project. That darned FundRazr link should be reposted at least once a week, if not placed on your Info page permanently.

It's a cause that is now closer to home after her 15-year-old son was diagnosed with cancer.
...The Child Cancer Foundation has been the principal recipient of the funds raised by the Fire Service calendar with more than $500,000 donated to the charity in the past 20 years.

University of Portsmouth

Nude charity calender faces the axe after unedited pictures were posted online | Mail Online
Pictures of students from the University of Portsmouth's calendar have ended up on porn websites.
Photographs have also been posted on forums where they have been viewed and commented on thousands of times.
The pictures which went into the calendar were edited to preserve the girls' modesty, but the ones uploaded online were unedited.
I'm a little concerned that the Daily Mail doesn't know how to spell "calendar", but that's a minor issue here.

So, how did "unedited" pictures get out in the first place? The internet doesn't creep into your computer and suck things out of it.
Makers of the calendar believe a university student may be responsible for uploading the photos.
Gee, ya think? That's some mighty fine police work there, Lou.

The calendars have raised quite a bit of money over the years. I'm sorry to see the girls, the school, and the charity suffer for their good intentions.

Shirts Off Their Backs

Volunteers Strip For Homeless Pets - KSATTwelve volunteers of the Bulverde Humane Society have taken a daring move and are literally giving the shirts off their backs to raise money for homeless animals.
The women have posed topless in a 2010 calendar that is described as not only the first of its kind in Bulverde, but possibility in the whole state of Texas.
The KSAT link features video of the story, and includes some images from the calendar itself. I don't see anything about it on the Bulverde Humane Society page, but then it was last year. See also My San Antonio, WMTW, YouTube.

Salisbury City Belles

Salisbury City FC Supporters Club - City Belles Charity CalenderThe 'City Belles' calendar has come about following my [Suzie Iles] breast cancer diagnosis in February 2011. Beth Doyle and I were having a cup of tea and joking that we should do a WI style calendar but as Whites fans, it should have a football theme. Stuart Cannell offered to do the design work and the mad idea slowly became a reality...! Four other brave ladies agreed to reveal all for the cause and the City Belles were born! I was very lucky, and thanks to the staff at the Pembroke Suite, the Breast Care Sisters, the surgeons at SDH and the radiotherapy team at Southampton General, I am now through my treatment and on the road to full recovery. The calendar is my way of putting something back whilst also raising money for the Whites and the Stars Appeal Pembroke Unit Fund.
Order at the above link. See also the Salisbury Journal.

Harlow Walking Group

Ramble group ladies take a walk on the wild side for charity | Harlow StarCHEEKY Harlow ramblers found themselves really out in the open when they agreed to strip off for a naked charity calendar.
Despite starting initially as a joke, the 14 women from the Harlow Walking Group were all eventually persuaded to undress for the tasteful Calendar Girls style calendar to help raise money for the Harlow Fields School.
"It was my idea," explained 73-year-old Sheila Cleary of Hawkenbury. "We were walking one Friday talking about fundraising events we could do and I said we should do a calendar like those calendar girls.
"Despite laughing at first, everyone was surprisingly enthusiastic about the idea and eventually we decided well why not – much to our children’s and grandchildren’s disgust!"
There doesn't appear to be any way to order one other than calling them. The number is in the Harlow Star.

Cats Protection

Naked calendar to benefit Caterham cats charity | This is Surrey
Next month, Caterham, Redhill and East Surrey Cats Protection launch their risqué 2012 calendar in the hope of raising hundreds of pounds for the area's mistreated moggies.

First in was telecoms engineer Jean Bailey, 44, of Huddlestone Crescent, Merstham.

The volunteer Cats Protection welfare coordinator said she had some last-minute nerves and added: "I arrived thinking, 'I'm not going to get my pants off for anybody – the pants are staying on,' and I did decide I wanted to do a back shot. I wasn't sure about full nudity.

"But when I was there I thought 'what the hell'."
That seems to be a common attitude among reluctant calendar models. And they usually end up having fun.

Cosplay for a Cause

Cosplay for a CauseCosplay for a Causes' mission is to use our love of costuming to raise money for the Japanese Red Cross Society to assist in Japan's Disaster relief aid. We are currently offering a 2012 calendar which contains international cosplayers with many never before seen photos. 100% of all our proceeds will be going to the Japanese Red Cross society.
I'll acknowledge in advance (before both of my readers write me to say it) that this project doesn't fit the stated mission of this site: Nobody gets naked. In fact, that's sort-of the point. But since I'm at DragonCon at the moment, I thought I'd go off on a tangent. You won't find cosplay done any better than this. Hey, you could meet me and visit the Cosplay for a Cause booth while you're there.

Dare to Bare Because We Care

Telegraph | Namibian Women "Dare to Bare Because We Care" for Animal Welfare
Desperate to raise funds for the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), 12 mostly middle-aged Namibian pet lovers bared it all with furry models from an animal shelter -- though most of these animals were since lucky enough to be adopted.
What started as a joke, with an ambitious print run of 2,000 copies at 300 Namibian dollars each (40 US dollars, 28 euros), became a money-maker in the Christmas shopping fever.
And another [Dare to] Bare Because We Care. As of mid-2010 they still had some left and had dropped the price to 100 dollars Namibian. I'm sure they're all gone by now, so I'm hoping for a happy ending. See also Facebook and the Windhoek SPCA.
