NEW DIGITAL BOOK ON SKINNY DIPPING

A popular collection of stories about skinny dipping has been published as an eBook, available through Kindle, Sony, and other producers of hand-held digital readers.

New England author R. E. Smith has collected the best writing depicting sensual and playful nudity outdoors, with hyperlinks taking readers to illustrations by great artists and photographers depicting similar scenes.

This electronic book includes frank images and great writing from Edmund White, John Fowles (England’s great aficionado of nudity outdoors), Scott Turow, Walt Whitman (America’s poet laureate of skinny-dipping), Mark Twain, Alan Hollinghurst, Erich Segal, Iris Murdoch, E.M. Forster, Lawrence Durrell, William Styron, George Orwell, Edmund White, Vladimir Nabokov, and many more. Even Harpo Marx, Shirley MacLaine, and Dolly Parton! Each of them has depicted outdoors nudity in delicious, erotic, and sensual language. The collection includes exciting pop lyrics by Jerry Jeff Walker, John Cougar Mellencamp, George Michael, MLTR, David Byrne, Jennifer Love Hewitt and R.E.M. – all of them in praise of running naked!

The art is by Andrew Wyeth, Robert Mapplethorpe, Eric Fischl, Rockwell Kent, John Singer Sargent, Bruce Weber, Thomas Eakins (whose “Swimming Picture” is America’s best known depiction of clothes-free swimming), Pablo Picasso, Grant Wood, Paul Gauguin, Henry Scott Tuke, Paul Cezanne, and many more.

The new eBook, entitled Erotic Tales of Skinny Dipping – In Art and Literature, is available for less than ten dollars through www.kindle.com or www.smashwords.com.

“Hardly a great writer in the English language has not depicted skinny dipping and hardly a great artist has not been intrigued by it – like many of us,” said Smith.

The chapters include “The Old Swimming Hole,” “Fathers and Sons,” “At the Nude Beach,” “Authors and Artists on Their Work,” “Nature Boy,” “A Spiritual Experience,” “Solitude,” and “Love and Sex Outdoors.”

And there is a chapter with writings from authors who don’t think skinny-dipping is much fun at all and another chapter collecting wise words from writers who think that clothes are a damn shame and that we can do without them.

The eBook is available from www.kindle.com, www.smashwords.com, Sony digital reader, and other sources online.

The collection was originally published as Naked in Nature: Great Skinny-Dipping Moments in Art and Literature. It is still available in a compact disc ($13.50) and in hard copy ($42.50), from orders@nakedinnature.net or Naked in Nature, PO Box 28577, Providence RI 02908, fax 401/274-4747.
