UPDATE ON BASSONA BEACH (I)

It is a sort of deadlock if I understand well.

Naturists say that no one can push them far from the beach because it is traditionally a naturist spot.

But the law has changed and the major says the naturist beach is illegal and next year something has to be done.

According to the major, it is illegal for two reasons: the new regional law says that a naturist place must have all the normal facilities (i.e. WC and lifeguard service); the Bassona beach is now part of a natural park protected by the EU law, so the naturist activity is not considered compatible with that.

Of course, the anti-naturists take advantage of this situation by stressing the “voyeur problem”. The fact is that this major is not friendly to naturists as the previous one; his policy doesn't help with finding apositive solution. Anyway, this is his last year in power in view of next May election, so let's see what happens.

BASSONA BEACH, LIDO DI DANTE (I)

Jean Pascal Marcacci, president of the local FE.NA.IT  (A.N.E.R) association, does his best, but the Bassona Beach in Lido di Dante is now part of a natural park, so it is forbidden not only nude sunbathing but even walking through the beach or even stopping on it.
Naturists have been always there, but the authorities promise fines soon; until now they have preferred to give the people ample time to understand the new rules.

The major of Ravenna, who heads a centre-left coalition, is against the practice of naturism even if he doesn't admit it openly. It is considered a scandal that offends the family and non-naturists who walk across the naturist place, as nude bathers are considered an attraction for voyeurs who have, or are supposed to have, improper behaviour in public.

The loss of Bassona Beach on the Adriatic coast will be a great blow to Italian naturism, and particularly to Jean Pascal Marcacci's strenuous efforts to keep the beach open.
Let us hear more from Italian naturists and visitors to this famous nude beach in the near future. All contributions, comments and letters in Italian and/or English will be appreciated and published in this blog.
